探花视频 Foundation Adds New Board Members Carl Crawford and Dave Benson, Elects New Board Officers, and Celebrates a Historic Year

The 探花视频 Foundation has welcomed two new board members: Carl Crawford, City of Duluth Human Rights Officer, and Dave Benson, co-owner and chief financial officer of Epicurean and Loll Designs. They have been elected to serve a three-year term.

Carl Crawford was selected by Mayor Emily Larson as Duluth鈥檚 Human Rights Officer in July 2016 after serving as 探花视频鈥檚 Intercultural Center Coordinator since 2007. Crawford brings a deep history of community involvement and human rights work to the position, including helping to draft Duluth鈥檚 original Human Rights Ordinance, serving as past chair of the Human Rights Commission and was a founding board member of the Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial.

Dave Benson is the co-founder and chief financial officer of Epicurean, located in Superior, WI, as well as its sister company, Loll Designs, located in West Duluth. Benson brings over twenty years of knowledge and experience in product development and manufacturing, marketing and business development to the Board of Directors. He was invited as U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar鈥檚 special guest at President Obama鈥檚 State of the Union address in 2010, where he was held up as a positive example of a successful, local small manufacturing business.

In addition to adding two new Board members, the Board of Directors elected new officers for the upcoming fiscal year, beginning on July 1, 2018.

Sandy Hoff, president of F.I. Salter Real Estate Services, was elected as Board President. Tom Renier, retired Executive Director of the Northland Foundation and former Chair of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees, was elected as vice-president. Rev. Terese Tomanek, retired chaplain with Essentia Health, was re-elected as secretary. John Eagleton, retired chief executive officer of Northstar Aerospace, was reelected as treasurer. The 2018/2019 Board will look to build on the success from this past year.

鈥淭his past year has been the most successful year in the history of LSC Foundation,鈥 said Daniel Fanning, Executive Director of the LSC Foundation. 鈥淭hanks to the leadership of our Board and staff, and the generosity of our community partners and friends, we had our most successful year in terms of both fundraising and providing financial support to students at 探花视频. LSCF provided over $340,000 in direct student support through scholarships, grants, and emergency interest-free loans.聽We know there is still a much bigger need, and as our enrollment at LSC continues to grow, the need for additional student support will also only continue to grow. We will be looking to build on our capacity over the next several years and continue to help as many students be successful as possible. We encourage anyone who is interested in helping support our community鈥檚 future workforce to contact us and be part of helping make a positive contribution in the lives of these deserving students.鈥

The mission of the 探花视频 Foundation is to support 探花视频 by cultivating community relationships and philanthropic support that will advance educational opportunities for students, staff, and community. The Foundation鈥檚 17th annual golf outing fundraiser for scholarships will be held Wed., Aug. 8 at the Nemadji Golf Club. For more information and to register, please visit www.lsc.edu/golf.
