Robots designed and built by four Integrated Manufacturing student teams will be put to the competitive task on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. at LSC鈥檚 Downtown Center, 120 N. Second Avenue West, Duluth. The event is free and open to the public.
鈥淭he event showcases original robot design by students as well as聽demonstrating different team approaches to mechanical challenges,鈥 said Integrated Manufacturing Engineering CAD Technology faculty member聽Rich Kresky. 鈥淚t鈥檚 always interesting to see what students come up with as the finished design.鈥
The robots are challenged聽to pick up rubber practice golf balls, travel through an obstacle course, and throw聽them into a five-gallon bucket.聽The number of successful throws by a robot in the least amount of time wins. Past robotic task challenges have included moving ping pong balls, buckets of sand, water balloons, and raw eggs through obstacle courses.
